Battle of Graz Valour and Fortitude AAR Napoleonic 85

We had a go at a historical game from  Peters scenario book, Graz is in modern day Croatia and we adapted it to what we had, I think in retrospect we made the Austrians too good but I had lots of Austrian line regiments wheras they were meant to be substandard, the scenario calls for the French to take the bridge, but even with twelve infantry battalions arriving it was all a bit congested on a 6 x 4 table  and we probably didn't have enough time, still we both enjoyed it and it was great getting the figures on the table for a first game of 2026! I didn't have enough Hungarians, so the Reuss unit got press ganged in, probably not for the last time!

We also seem to be getting a better hang of Valour and Fortitude, which is great!
All the best

  1. Great to see you're figures in action Iain and they do look rather cool:)! How often we do get into a game, to suddenly realise we've gone a bit OTT on the number of units? So easily done;). But you had fun which at the end of the day is waht a hobby should be about!

  2. Painting more Hungarians up next! Fine looking game with lots of densely-packed Napoleonics.

  3. That looks a nice game Iain and a good opportunity to get a game going. The photo’s instantly remind me of those pics in Charles Grant’s Napoleonic Wargaming - a book that was influential to this wargamer in the early 70’s - nice!

Interesting to see you sticking with Valour & Fortitude, do you plan on using them with the new army lists for your pike & Shot games.
