This is a balsa wood barn I made for a job, when I was a model maker, almost 20 years ago that was going to be chucked so I said I'll have it and it's been knocking around, a bit broken in a box until I eventually thought I'd just better get it done. As it's all balsa it's a bit delicate I gave it a coat of dilute pva to strengthen it up a bit, it also had a bit of emulsion in it to give it a bit of colour, a dirty wash,then a black wash and another dirty wash. It's really northern European 19th century but I will happily use it in 1809 on the danube,in the 17th century ( or even earlier!) in Britain and it can get overrun by my Soviets too!

Terrific work Iain. I wouldn't have the patience to do something as intricate as that, even with a significant intervening period between starting and completion. Very nice indeed.

Love it. Big enough for a unit, but lots of nooks and crannies if you used it in a skirmish game. Would something like modpodge give it a little durability? The Youtube terrain guys all seem to swear by it.

That looks really convincing, excellent job. The colours of the old weathered and burnt wood look spot on, something I always struggle with.

Lots of goodness on display: impressive effects on the ruined barn; any figs posed with it are fine (although my preference is for the 17th Cent). The game layout is enticing: looking forward to a report--if you don't get too wrapped up in playing to remember to record it :)
