Dux Bellorum 4 a pile of Picts! AHPC post

The aim for this challenge was to produce at least the core of a number of armies for Dux Bellorum (other dark age rule sets are available!) I  have largely succeeded with playable Irish and Saxon forces. Now it's the turn of the Picts in the shape of four units of ordinary warriors.  These are mostly from Black tree design, although they don't seem to be doing them anymore which is a pity as I really like the sculpting style plus a half dozen unknown from Ebay.

This gives me the core of a  Pictish force and post challenge are the Late Romans and the Romano British, rather more cavalry!

All the best
Iain

  1. Iain, looks like you cranked through a lot of figures during the Challenge. What was your final count?

Nice Pict hordes, by the way!

  9. Brutal looking bunch those Iain. The mass effect is really good and the muted clothing shades work very well.

  10. Very nice Iain ...I have read on other blogs that BTD are just retooling their moulds, so hopefully these figures will be available to you again when that's been completed?

  13. Great looking force, you've obviously been a busy chap.
I always feel that forces of 'lesser' warriors could easily substitue for similar types in many ancient games. As an example wold these look too out of place as the supporting cast for Spartacus' revolt?

  18. Very nice Picts, Iain!
Always thought that group of figs on round bases looks rather empty in one unit in close formation. However your piles look quite crowded and massive as expected:) so good!
