I've finally finished a French command base that were used in the game at Christmas .
I say a, I suppose I should say the, Napoleon, Mameluke and a chasseurs a cheval of the Guard. Napoleon and Mameluke are Perry as is the Chasseur but his horse is Foundry, I swapped out the chap who originally sat on it so that he could be the trumpeter with his regiment, I think his replacement works well.
Pretty happy with this lot, mostly painted in the wee small hours of a December night/morning to get to a basic standard but I've finished them off now so here we have the Emperor or the Corsican ogre, take your pick!
Lit up by a nice French light I got when I was over there.
Next up ? Probably something Napoleonic but I'm going to need some of those 17th century guns soon so I should get my finger out and move at least some of those along but don't hold your breath!

Nice Ian, how big is that base? I just happened to pick up that Perry command pack a couple of months ago. I wanted the napoleon figure, but thought it an excellent idea to throw the Mameluke in there. I was in two minds whether they should / could go onto the same base, but you have happily convinced me that they should, that splash of colour is a great counter-balance to Napoleon.

I think the Mameluke works well as a counterpoint to both Napoleon and the chasseur (who I brought in instead of Marshal Soult as I like the image of the Emperor being guarded) as they are relatively understated, where as he definately isn't!

They look great Iain. Foundry and Perry do work very well together, no doubt helped by the Perrys having sculpted the Foundry range.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, although I do find the scale varies quite a bit with the Foundry Napoleonic range, the command stand Chasseur was identical size with his Perry counterpart whereas the Foundry Austrian Grenadiers are tiny!

I like this command stand the best of all that you've done to date Iain. Not because of Napoleon himself being featured, but for how interesting the sculpts are and what a natural grouping you've put together with them. Really good stuff!
ReplyDeleteOff topic - on Stew's most recent post to this date, you mentioned trying to watch Picard and giving up; I replied to your comment on that post, but incase you do not get notifications of such I wanted to appeal to you to try Picard again, but instead of wasting time with the first two seasons (Which were just plain awful), just watch the third and final season itself. It was in my opinion the best Star Trek "anything" since Deep Space 9 ended. Hope my appeal reaches your "inner trekkie"! :)
