Just to keep Alexie and Jonathan happy, here's a Great Italian wars post. We had a game of Agdanello 1509 in April 2024 and I thought I needed another Italian pike block, so two and a half years later here they are!
These are mainly from the Perry plastic mercenaries set with additional Perry metal 16th century heads and a couple of their Swiss heads for variety, there are also some of the armoured knights plastic box set to give me a bit of variety in the first rank, including one of the command sets. The bases are warbases 45mm x 45mm and the flags are from Petes flags.
All the best
Iain

Excellent! Nice flags too! I have some of these Perry pikemen on the painting table, but they will be employed in my WotR project.
ReplyDeleteAwesome looking unit Iain, really like the variety you have in there, makes for a really interesting unit.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work there, nicely set off by the flags:)! Good to see the pikes upright, which makes them much more manageable in a game IMHO.
ReplyDeleteWoow! Amazing work 👏
ReplyDeleteFormidable :-) I also have the Perry mercenary pike - one unit done, the other made up ready to paint ..... but put away in the garage while other things jump the queue! Hhmmm 2½ years you say, I am liking that :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic work, Iain. Nice Venetian flags if I'm not mistaken.
ReplyDeleteA fine body of men, Iain! Love the flag too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on adding to your collection, Iain! I was also planning to make a squad of pikemen from Perry plastic kits (the kits are very functional and offer plenty of opportunities for conversions). But I couldn’t get the sets of metal heads in Italian caps — they’re not available in our online stores🤷 So the Italian and French pikemen are put on hold for now. But overall, of course, I’d like to have real Italian pikemen in my army, not ones converted from the Wars of the Roses, but I’ve only seen those in 1/72 scale. Let’s hope that someone will release it in 28 mm. Congratulations again on the addition, it’s a great squad!
ReplyDeleteLovely work Iain, and as others have said the flags really top things off.
