More Italian wars heavy cavalry, this time a Milanese unit, Ludovico II Sforza duke of Milan with his familiga bodyguard. Once more Perry plastic for the bodyguard, with a slightly anachronistic war of the Roses herald in Sforza colours and an even more anachronistic Henry V playing Ludavico, he was primed in the box and needed to get painted and used somehow! Ludovico II had an unfortunate experience leading his army when his Swiss started fraternising with his enemies Swiss and then most of his army ran away when the going got tough, musn't forget treachery and betrayal in Italian wars games ! They'll come in useful for Mariganno to add to shed loads of Swiss pike, flags are once more Petes flags from a condittore set plus a free download from a slightly earlier period but Im happy enough with that!
Next up, more of the same , Napoleonics or maybe an AAR, theres a few piling up?

Another excellent batch of cavalry!
ReplyDeleteHow do you store minis with stuff like those lances sticking out?
Thanks Fitz , they line up nicely with the other cavalry on 45mm x 60mm bases?

Another good looking bunch Iain. All of your brief snippets of histories like these are kinda making me want o do more research on the period - not that I need yet more stuff to look up online!
ReplyDeleteGlad you find the bits of background of interest, sure you couldnt squeeze something in on top of the quar?

Goodness NO! LOL I need to finish one project at least (probably 4 or 5...) before I begin any new ones!

Very nice Iain.
ReplyDeleteThe Swiss sound like a handy force to have as you can you them on both sides.
Most of the units can be on most of the sides, its one of the things that makes it interesting, but yes mord Swiss is a good idea, thats why Ive started converting virtually every one of a force of 108, not such a good idea!

Very nicely done Iain, they look the part, it is a very coplourful period and a very tempting one too!

Another lovely unit there Iain, but old Henry is just using his family's heirloom armour, hence the anachronism;)!
ReplyDeleteI like the rationalisation, its just Milan was the major armour production centre of the late medieval period, so difficult to justify!🤣

Super additions, Iain.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard!

ReplyDeleteThe flags are great arent they Lawrence?

More impressive troops Iain. I have to confess it's not a period I know much about but there is something rather appealing about the charge of heavily armoured knights.
ReplyDeleteIts always nice to have heavily armoured knights I think!
