Shieldwall unit Late Roman 4

Here is another Late Roman shieldwall unit for my Dux Bellorum army but which will in all likelyhood end up in a Midguard game, individualy based, then sabot based in a 120mm base they could be used for Impetus and also for To the Strongest!?

Primed black, flesh, metal, browns, shield colours, handpainted, all good. Black Tree design figures, nice and chunky, like most of my Dux Bellorum armies I bought them second hand from a chap selling them at Colours and then Salute a few years ago.

Pretty happy with them, fast and dirty but good enough, Ive got another skirmish unit virtually done, then one more shieldwall unit and an archer unit then this little army will be done.

Up next? Terrain, Napoleonics , Napoleonic terrain or Late Romans

All the best

Iain

  5. I have the same figures but bought them so long ago I couldn’t remember who made them - thanks for the memory jog. Might get round to painting them one day now I’m back into 28’s.

  9. Great looking unit Iain, nice work on some lovely figures, a real shame that BTD are terrible to deal with.

  12. Really liking these. Those shields are especially nifty - did you source historic examples?

    1. Thanks Dai, yes there are a few variations of this design extant, I'm using historic shield designs but I'm not doing specific locations or campaigns?
