Austrian cuirassiers regiment no 5 Sommariva Napoleonic 85

Clearing the decks for the AHPC, here's another Perry plastic Austrian Cuirassier unit, they're made up of the left overs from the three boxes plus another command sprue which gave me the commander and the trumpeter who is mounted on a British light dragoon horse with added tail and a headswap. The six spare cuirassiers and horses plus two horses from the command sprue, two spare horses from the hussar box and one spare horse from a hussar command sprue with the light dragoon horse gets you sorted for mounts, you get the option of the flag bearer torso or a cuirassier torso, so that gave me four more torsos to go with the original six cuirassiers they are then mounted  on hussar overall legs, there is one warlord games British helmet as I was one short of the latter helmets, can you spot it?  The usual fast and dirty finish on Cuirassier regiment no 5 Sommariva with the same  blue facings as dragoon regiment no 6.

Nice figures, pleasant to paint, more Napoleonics and/or terrain coming up, this takes me to the final Napoleonic figures for this year , 456 which I am more than happy with.

Bit of Christmas terrain building, Merry Christmas!

All the best

  1. Looks like a dynamic group of Cuirassiers!
Not sure what I'm looking at with the terrain - looks like sandstone nativity scene (or something like that) surrounded by postcards or cutout photos. But maybe I am missing something. :)

    1. Thanks, they are dynamic aren't they? I've just printed a load of images of the town I live in then cut it out of foamboard to put the nativity scene in, kind of like the medieval mystery plays used to potray the holy land as their own backyard!

  2. Your Austrians are expanding at a great rate Iain. Another lovely unit and I'll look forward to your upcoming terrain additions as usual.

    1. Thanks Lawrence, yes still lots more Austrians, not so many French but enough of them to keep me honest!

  3. These Austrian troopers look great! 456 completed 28mm Napoleonics is impressive. Have you left yourself anything to paint for the upcoming challenge? Merry Christmas!

    1. I think it's going to be a mainly Napoleonic AHPC with maybe a side order of (mostly) black tree design dark ages? I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out, it's their light cavalry comrades coming up the outside now!
