A Jamaican parade Napoleonic 71

Here , along the lines of what I did on my holidays post is a round up of what I have painted while working in Jamaica :

Four units of French line infantry

One unit of French dragoons

One unit of confederation of the Rhine Reuss infantry

Two units of Hungarian infantry

Three units of Austrian infantry

One unit of Austrian cuirassiers

All together now

Boxed and ready for a trip across the Atlantic! Looks like two of Norms pocket armies with the addition of command and artillery, I'll flock and flag them when I'm home.

Pretty happy with what I've got done in three months away, it brings my Napoleonic year total up to 312 which I'm happy with I've got another French line unit almost completed at home and a unit of hussars that are half done so I think I'll make my 400 Napoleonic figures target this year at least!

All made it across the pond in one piece, although the black and white spilled it didn't get on the boxer shorts or the flag bearers of the two cavalry units it was travelling with, I'll tape them up with masking tape for long journeys in the future!

All the best

 Iain

  1. A very impressive output Iain, whether at home or away as in this case:)! Let's hope they all arrive back safe and sound. I always taped my paints, even when bringing them back from town on my bike whilst in the rucksack, just to be safe!

    1. They all made it back in one piece, I will definitely be taping my bigger pots in future, as they're repurposed chewing gum pots I've decanted larger amounts of acrylic paint into!

  2. That is a very productive three months Iain, and good to hear they made the journey home safely, even with the mishap of the paint.

    1. Thanks Peter, I'm a supervising art director for film and TV, so it was a production I started in Bristol in September, we shot Bristol locations and interiors and then I came out to do the exteriors in Jamaica. The CoR unit is Reuss, yes!

    2. You don't know Nick Palmer or Mike Stallion by any chance Iain, who are both in similar roles I believe? It's just that we were on the same course together at Uni some 40 years ago. Ditto Jacquie Fowler, hair and make up, who won a BAFTA?

    3. Hi Steve, no I don't, not that surprising as there's usually only one supervising art director on a project, yes art college was about 40 years ago for me too!

    1. Removed from a home environment, it's possible to be more productive, clearly eliminating your family is helpful for wargames production!?

  17. That's really amazing, you painting up so much figures (lovely too), on a cross-Atlantic venture, and then making it back home without issues. Very impressive!

  19. Great work Iain! I hope your troops don't succumb to the same diseases as European troops traditionally did around the Caribbean or they will be much depleted by arrival home! I can think of worse places to paint - looks like you have made some great progress in finishing those. Best wishes, Jason
