French command Napoleonic 37

Just a short post today, a small pallette cleanser from the 17th century artillery. Here is Marshal Lannes rebased with a newly painted mounted Colonel also from Perry , I always envisaged mounting Lannes with another figure once one became available, I'll be doing the same with Lasalle at some point, I'll have some more junior officers  on single mounted command stands to give me some more varied options going forward, there are various French command ongoing  at the moment.

It's a slightly smaller base than the Napoleon command base which seems about right. Probably back to 17th century artillery and then more Napoleonics!

All the best

  1. The command base looks excellent Iain, and very fitting for their standing in the army. Really like the idea of the different levels of command having different stands, should make it really easy to spot the different types on the tabletop.

    1. I agree, Dave. I do the same. Each level of command has a specific number of figures on the stand. Easy to assess at a glance who is who.

    1. Thanks Matt, well with the masses of Napoleonic French infantry you've been knocking out I imagine some command is necessary!

    1. Thanks Stew, probably food or accommodation or maybe opera but you're right could be swords!

  6. He came up beautifully Iain, lovely work. I use the different sizes of circular base for different levels of command and also find it works well, and you more easily work out the chain of command at a glance.

    1. Thanks Lawrence, a useful shorthand, as long as you apply it consistently, not sure I have!

  7. The 2 circling officers look good and dynamic. I do like the idea of different levels of command having different, easily identifiable stands.

    2. I'm in my summer painting lull right now. But I have been prepping minis; mostly various sci-fi figures (non-GW). I think I've painted all of the kobolds I had from the set.

    3. Yes I have a big pile to prime but I find I have to do a bit of painting of an evening, just to relax, better than smoking or drinking at least!

  11. Hi Iain. Have already commented but for some reason wasn’t published. Hope it’ll be ok this time round!
Always a good idea to have multiple figures and base sizes for command bases. Great job!

  13. Nicely done, especially with their positioning as they just look like they're having a chat. I based my ACW command in 2,3 or 4 figures for Brigade, Division and Corps - instant recognition !

  15. A fine job on an outstanding Marshal, Ian. His death following Aspern-Essling was a huge loss for Napoleon and France!
