WW2 soviets 7
Here is the last of my soviets, I have more to make up but for now I think I have enough for a force so I'm going to move on to my Italian wars forces and maybe some napoleonics.
And all together , they're a mix of warlord, Black tree design and PSC.
This should work out at 95 points and take me past 1000 points, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get anything else finished but I'll have a go!
Thanks Jonathan. The warlord figures are nice to paint but as they are multi part kits (and possibly the most detailed I've had to build )they're a right pain to put together, pretty economical though, the PSC figures are faster to put together ,not as nice although it's easy in many cases to add spare warlord heads which improves them, really, really cheap, I think £35 gets you 57 infantry, two artillery pieces, two medium mortars, two light mortars, four maxims plus light machine guns and anti tank rifles and crew but the black tree design figures are the nicest and easiest to work on and as for cost all the black tree figures didn't cost me anything as they got thrown in for free as I was buying lots of late Romans! Best Iain
Thanks Stew, the 1000 points refer to the Analogue painting challenge which I'm doing which runs from the 20th of December to the 20th of March, you get 5 points for a 28mm infantry figure, 10 points for a cavalry figure, less for smaller figures, more for larger,I've found it to be quite helpful in pushing up my productivity, it's not really competitive, I find it more supportive. Very nice. I recently watched a few Ww2 Soviet vs German movies on YouTube that were quite nicely done. One was about a captured Hungarian being used to clear minefields. Can't recall the name.
Well.... what a rubbish hobby-mate I've been. You posted up these lovely lot over TWO months ago and only now have I seen them!? Apologies Iain, not cricket at all.
Congrats on hitting your 1000! That Analogue Challenge is fun to follow with a LOT of beautiful results by the participants. Wish my own painting output was more consistent as I think it would be quite fun.

Two Commissars! Those poor brave Defenders of the Motherland... :)
You made your goal of 1,000 points. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWith a mix of Soviets, which manufacturer do you prefer to paint and field?

ReplyDeleteBeen meaning to ask, but a 1000 points of what? For an army list?
