Great Italian wars 34 More mounted crossbow men

Another unit of mounted crossbow men, once again mostly hinchcliffe with added Perry plastic heads with a few unknown ebay late mediaeval types to make up the numbers, gone for a more red and green type livery this time which I'm pretty happy with. The French flag is from the Perry plastic light cavalry set.

Next up another unit of stradiots in Venetian service and then probably more terrain, which I'm spending a fair bit of time on , the next pike block is probably a while off.
All the best Iain

  2. Nice crossbowmen! What which rules are you basing these figures?

    1. Thanks Jonathan! I'll probably be using them for either to the strongest or warlords pike and shot, the basing is copied from Olicanalads, the light cavalry are spread out a bit more so they have the same width 45mm but are deeper,it seems to work for me!

  3. The basing does look really good. Will think about this for my TYW Croats.

  6. Excellent work as always!
(but your math seems a bit off - I only count 8 figures; not 34) :)

  7. Very nice, the array of one off-set behind the other does give a nicer unit effect than everything ranked in a single line. Also nice variation in the horse flesh. I do have 3 boxes of WoR Perry plastics and really must get something done with them.

  10. Very iconic unit and a good mish-mash of figures too, showing their irregular status. Nice to see them having a theme but not completely uniform.

  12. Nicely done. If I had a crossbow I would feel even more dangerous if I also had a horse like these guys do. 😀

  15. Great additions. These troops were far more useful before and after battle, than during it, I think!
