We had another go at a Great Italian wars battle with the new V4 version of Valour and Fortitude. We went for Cerignola this time and Des put it into chatgbt to get a scenario for V&F v4 on a 6' x 4' board
Surprisingly good and a much greater improvement on the last AI generated V&F scenario.
The objectives for the French were all on the other side of the ditch and the French had no option but to attack and get shot to pieces in the ditch, one unit managed to clear the ditch but were dispatched by a fresh landscknecht pike block, the Spanish cavalry were defeated when they eventually activated, the palazzo in an incomplete form also made its first appearance. An historical result which I was much happier with, in spite of being the French!
Another good, fast and brutal V&F game.
Next up? Dark ages, more Italian wars or possibly Napoleonic?
All the best
Iain

Nice to see more Italian Wars armies battling it out on your table. AI writing your scenarios? I would like to teach it to write my battle reports from my memory!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should try dictating them instead? An embarresment if riches for you Jonathan!

As always the Italian Wars do make a real spectacle for us to enjoy on the table. Good to see this game giving a more historical result, even if you were on the receiving end of the loss!
ReplyDeleteYes, better balance, I dont think the French should be able to win this battle, without enormous amounts of luck, which I didn't have!!

Cracking set of photos, Iain! That collection looks really impressive lined up across the field. Even with a tough day for the French, it sounds like a fast and brutal session of V&F.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Andy
Yes a great fun game!

A.I. seems to have made some leaps in improvement in scenario generation compared to just a year ago. That's an attractive way to represent a ditch. as for visuals, flags and colours everywhere - lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes I thought that, its a colourful period , isnt it!

Great looking re-fight Iain, the very early Italian Wars is one of my favourite periods.
ReplyDeleteYes me too, I think I go up to the siege of Rome and slightly lose interest!

ReplyDeleteThanks Alexi, I think I agree with you!

ReplyDeleteThanks very much, tough day at the office for France!

It is certainly a very colourful period Iain - but I don't think I have another large historical collection in me - plus, I have nowhere to put them even if I could muster the energy to paint them!
ReplyDeleteOh come on Keith ,of course you can, look I still havent started the samurai and no paint has gone near my Napoleonic Bavarian, Spanish, Prussion and Polish armies!

Gorgeous figures Iain and I really like your (?) mat as well. One of the many things that I enjoy about others' blogs is seeing lovely games and figures in periods that I will never do myself. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
p.s. I also enjoyed the glimpses at your book shelf—some of my favs in there.
p.p.s. Oh yeah, can you hear me chanting: "Napoleonics, Napoleonics, Napoleonics..."
Thanks James, I know your in team Napoeonic, but its nice to visit other periods sometimes!
