Ruined buildings batch 2 Terrain 27

Here's the other six buildings,  foamboard, brick plastic sheet , coffee stirrers, filler, cardboard, matchsticks and a bit of balsa. Painted in household emulsion on top of various black car sprays.

I've still got to update Des's original  four mdf buildings and of course there's Stews prototype for a step by step and ideally an art deco cinema/ theatre plus some trains , a crashed plane and maybe Pavlovs house in 28mmish, the man's mad!
In the meantime here's some pictures of these buildings with the two larger ones I did previously,  with our obligatory friend the commisar.

Apart from these buildings,  I'm working on some more bridges, some Dark age terrain,  some Napoleonic terrain plus some carts and wagons which are all covered by Dave Stones Summer of scenery which these are part of. I'm also grappling with some barricades, plus there are always Napoleonics lurking nearby!
All the best
Iain

  1. Fantastic... if that is the correct expression for a ruin. It really looks the part and very convincing. Great job, Iain.

    1. Thanks Keith, in two tescos carrier bags, there's some still space for more, it was part of the design consideration, I learnt after the two oversized buildings!

  5. Cracking work on those Iain:)! Funnily enough last night I was pondering on making a ruined building from an old Airfix magazine article that I made (badly) as a kid, for that pure nostalgia hit and of course to have fun making something.

    1. Sounds like a good idea Steve, bit overscale for you though? I'm messing around with an old airfix/dapol building at the moment, you can't get away from airfix!

    2. The idea is to build it at HO/OO scale as per the original and maybe make a mini diorama with it, using some Airfix figures etc. At least that's the current idea! Those old Dapol/Airfix kits are great, although some are certainly showing their age based upon previous experience.

  6. Iain, they look like small sets in a movie. The collection has a wonderful look shown as you have. Can't wait for this to be included in a game.

    1. Thanks Lawrence, I was tempted by fireplace surrounds but I figured there's got to be a limit!

  9. These are just brilliant, I have run over the pictures a couple of times and I just love their rustic nature - the exposed brickwork is particularly effective.

  10. Putting me to shame again, as usual. Very nicely done Iain. Reminds me of a street I used to live on in Smethwick, though your houses are in slightly better repair I suspect!

    1. Thanks Stew, very different from what your doing and of course not ruined village, rather more urban, I say this as I have ruined village buildings too!

  14. These look so good Iain. But not satisfied with making excellent buildings you have 17 other things on the go too, bloody over-achiever, hahahaha! 😳😀😊
"Everyone" is making buildings. Keith has done some 'messed up' ones as well and Stew has made a Quar mansion. You must have got them into it?!
    Best wishes, James

    1. Thanks James, Stew and I were joining in with Dave Stone's summer of scenery, although to be honest I'm now so invested with terrain it's probably going to keep going to Christmas! I also know you always have multiple armies on at the same time as well as fleets!
