French line infantry regiment no 70 Napoleonic post 35

Here is another Perry plastic French line infantry regiment no 70, nice to put together and paint, they've been in use half painted so it's nice to finish them off!

Once more with a Victrix flag, still painting more Napoleonics and war of three Kingdoms artillery which apart from the dragoons will see me mostly complete that project for now, I have two regiments of dragoons but I have two more regiments worth in the lead pile so I feel I should finish them, I just don't have any urgency! There is of course a Montrose army, safety locked away but the thought of tartan seems to keep it bottom of the pile! There's also lot's of primed Napoleonics however I have started prepping some Italian wars light cavalry in an effort to complete another project, I  know, I know ,not really finished but most options done for say four armies simultaneously, I mean surely I don't need any more?!

All the best

Iain

  1. Another great looking unit Iain, and as you said to me is any army truly finished ! LOL As to what to paint next, it always falls down to the balance of what I need to paint verses what I want to paint, hopefully there is a balance in there somewhere, but the mutants sat on my desk would disagree ! LOL

    1. Sorry Dave, could have sworn I replied to you, I try and work my way methodically through whats on the desk , pretty much no matter what , otherwise I end up with masses of half done figures!

  2. The units are really racking up, I do like the Grenadier base, they always seem rewarding to complete. I know exactly what you mean about tartan, I even find british lace a barrier to brush work enthusiasm.

  5. They look great Iain. As the main protagonists of the era one does need a lot of French, and I find my pile of unpainted French line quite daunting when I think about it.

    1. Thanks Lawrence, I'm knuckling down to painting infantry, I can't imagine you being daunted by painting anything with your track record of Napoleonic cavalry and seemingly a new army every month!

  6. As usual, the mere vision of the ranks marching to battle is enormously inspiring. I keep on enjoying every post here

    1. Thanks Stew, not yet! No I'll probably get 19 line infantry units and four guard so about 552, all bar 24 painted, part painted or at least primed!

  12. Nice looking regiment Iain, I have a box of Perry's French on the way and maybe, just to be different, I will (when I get to them) paint them as French. I was thinking of maybe Italian but you have inspired me.

    1. Thanks Chris, you do get a nice little painting guide with the set which I'm using to paint some Victrix figures as Italians funnily enough, it's another excellent set from the Perry's.
