Lower Austrian Landwehr unit in grey. Victrix plastic figures, slightly more exaggerated than Perry ,nice to paint, they started out as Vienna Volunteers but I couldn't face painting their breeches white,so they're Lower Austrian Landwehr, all in grey!
I will have to do the Vienna Volunteers at some point I guess, but not just yet. Flag from Victrix, a 1792 one, the officer shouldn't really have a sash at this period in the Landwehr but I didn't want to butcher such a lovely characterful figure, almost finished the next unit of Landwehr, so you should see them next week.
All the best
Iain
Great looking unit Iain, can understand putting off the painting of the white trousers, if it's not something you enjoy painting, would recommend the GW contrast paint for doing white, as can spped up the process from my experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, just Boughton some apothecary white contrast paint!

Looks good, Iain! With pike grey uniform and upturned corshut hat, these Landwehr could even see double duty as jaegers on parade.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan, yes they could do double duty and get an upgrade!

Nice job, I like the Victrix Landwehr models. I'm all in favour of avoiding white, the toughest 'colour' for me to get right. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, I hope you have a good break and I look forward to hearing from you again!

Nice Landwehr - I seem to recall there is a large variety of possibilities - tan brown uniforms like the artillery, green and of course, grey like you have done here. I dis three or four units - I cant remember exactly - would have liked to do more for the variety - but the poor fighting quality put me off investing too much time and money into this class of Austrian soldier!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith, there's a fair variety of uniforms for 1809,like you I think I will go for about 4 units, should be enough!

Very nice looking. I’m glad you let the officer keep his sash; he seems to like it. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew, he does,doesn't he?

Perhaps the officer is just stylish? Turned out really well. Can I ask whether you prefer the Perry to the Victrix, or is that like asking which is your favorite kid?
ReplyDeleteThanks Markus, stylish, yes,you are of course right! I like the Victrix heads and prefer the Perry bodies but they're both great kits!

Good looking unit Iain. I really like your basing.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Vol!

Great job on these! This is as close to "standard" uniform for 1809 Landwehr as it gets. And yes, you will have to do the Vienne Volunteers, who were definitely a cut above the Landwehr!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, good to have some standard units and I will do some Vienna Volunteers down the line!
