With the easing of lockdown in the UK and being allowed to visit gardens other than your own, I took my trestles and boards and set them up on the patio.
Another TtS game of Venetian versus Papal condatta armies ensued with the Papal forces eventually being triumphant!
Following that nephew no 1 had been setting up a bolt action game while I played nephew no 2. Once we concluded the two brothers had at it! The Germans won by getting the tank crew man( objective) off the table.
A fun time had by all,the buildings were a mix of mine and nephew no1s, they each supplied their figures, it was the paras first outing so understandable that they lost! The board seemed to work well with the terrain too, which I was pleased about.Nice to have another game, just need more factor 50 for my Celtic skin next time out!
All the best Iain
Iain, it is refreshing to see FtF gaming return at least for you! I await the day my Italian Wars armies can return to battle. Looks like fun day, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan! Yes, nice to get a game in! I also look forward to your Italian wars armies returning to battle!

ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Iain, maybe add a portable gazebo to the set and save yourself some sunburn.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul! You know what we're like in the UK, we can't cope with extreme weather, eg sunshine or snow!

Lovely job and nice quality time with the family. Did the hot weather cause any warping problems with either the board or the road? I ask as I gamed in a sun lounge on 'that hottest day' and got warping to several items.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm! I realise all my gaming is with family or partners of family! No warping apart from some ongoing warping of one of the boards which is here to stay!

Good timing to get those games in outside before it turned wet again.
ReplyDeleteYes, glad I acted relatively swiftly and everyone was desperate for a real game so it happened relatively fast (in our small dry window!)

All looks great sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Michal!

It's all fantastic, the pics are immersive and the games look fun. The whole open air setup makes me jealous!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, really great.
Thanks a lot Suber! It was great fun!

ReplyDeleteThanks Dean! Lucky on both counts!

A lovely idea, and looks like a fun time. Not something I'd like to try in the height of a Queensland summer though.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun! Hot enough in the temperate south of England, sounds a bit melty in a Queensland summer!

A wonderful place and two beautiful games, what's not like?
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil! We packed a bit in!

Iain, Great to see you and your nephews enjoying the great British Summer with an outdoor game. I like Lawrence's comments about a Queensland summer, her in Sydney it's not too bad as long has you some shade and a cold one.Cheers Greg
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg! We were alright as the day went on,still pleasant and shady, starting in the midday sun, hmmm, us and the mad dogs!

Great looking al fresco games Iain, I think I would be too paranoid about a sudden change of weather or cats joining the fray!
ReplyDeleteThanks Oli! We had a few cards blow about but that was it! Luckily the small dog can't jump as high as the table!

Playing outside like barbarians! If I wanted to go outside I’d have a hobby that involves kicking or running. 😀
ReplyDeleteKidding of course!
Looks like Great fun and I actually expect the open air would be a pleasurable experience. Hooray for face to face Gaming. Your lucky that nephews are gamers too. The tables look great in the sunlight. 😀
Thanks Stew! It was a bit odd,but still great fun! Lots of work went into getting my nephews into gaming, armies painted figures as presents and painting 40k figures with them whentheywere little!

Great pastime, Iain! I assume you and your nephews had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dmitry! We certainly did!

ReplyDeleteThanks Peter! Yes we all three had fun!

A couple of great looking games Iain and as others have said, you are fortunate to have other gamers as relatives..... Playing in the garden would be a novel experience....you would prefer not to have Nosey neighbours I suppose!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith! I have high fencing!

Nothing like a bit of fresh air........
ReplyDeleteYes Mike, made a nice change!

I hate the sun and it hates me too; I did try gaming outside many years ago, but didn;t end well (the gin didn't help).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations though getting a couple of games in !
Thanks Joe! I avoided the combination of gaming and alcohol as I didn't think it would end well!
